Sr Scientist
Job description
CardioFocus is seeking a full-time Sr Scientist to join our team in Marlborough, MA.
The Sr. Research Scientist is responsible for generating data to inform and drive the next generation electrophysiology (EP) solutions. This work includes designing, executing, and analyzing benchtop and preclinical in vivo testing; with the objective to evaluate and optimize therapies using Pulsed Electric Fields (PEFs). This role will coordinate with a multi-functional team of engineers and scientists to develop the necessary research methods and tools to support the development of future products.
Key Responsibilities
Develop appropriate benchtop and in vivo preclinical experimental methodologies to evaluate treatment effects
Design long-term research strategies to drive towards long-term business and clinical objectives
Integrate investigational outcomes into meaningful next steps and advances in pursuit of therapeutic objectives
Interface with clinical teams, ensuring new and existing therapeutic discoveries are generated in a manner available for rapid clinical adoption
Coordinate external experimental partnerships, including contracted research labs, scientists and clinicians
Generate conclusions and improve treatment protocols, using appropriate statistical techniques
Communicate outcomes with development teams to drive product improvements and new solutions for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias
Generate and support the development of intellectual property
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Scientific related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
5+ years of experience in the medical device industry, or graduate research in electrophysiology or pulsed electric fields required.
Experience required executing and managing complex research programs.
Demonstrated history collaborating with key opinion leaders for the purposes of publishing research findings.
Working knowledge of medical device regulations (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 62304) and design control processes preferred.
Experience managing 2-3 research programs concurrently, preferred.

Ability to effectively develop and execute scientifically valid research protocols.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work and contribute effectively in a team environment helping the team develop strategies for bench and preclinical research.
Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, evolving company and operate with a high sense of urgency
Additional Information
Business travel of up to 15% may be required.
